Top 7 Things to do in Freetown in February 2024

Updated: Feb 9

Happy new year!

...are we still saying that? 🫣

I haven't graced you all with my presence for the new year so I'm calling it and definitely think I can still say that.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🥳🥳🥳

New year, same benevolent queen bringing to you Top 7 despite EDSA being the usual enemy of progress.

"But Mina, what happened to Top 7 things to do in January?"

What about it?

We all know the new year starts in February, do we not? The long year of January has finally ended and we are on to new beginnings in 2024. 🤭

February is the month of 💞love💞. And Black History Month✊🏾 for US audiences. But yes, love.

Whether that's partnered love, familial, platonic or self-love be reminded to find love in whatever it is you do and wherever you are. And to my fellow citizens of the Federal Republic of Single People, don't allow the couples to pepper you - also show them pepper in any way possible as our Nigerian siblings have said; this is the year of "nor gree for anybody". 👹

Do with that information what you will.

By the way, today is World Read Aloud day! If you haven't read something aloud today you definitely have this blog post to do so. 😉

Ok, let's pull up what I have here for you. Top 7 things to do this February in Freetown - let's go!

1. Be a cast or crew member of The Vagina Monologues 🌸

February is coming in HOT 🔥

The Vagina Monologues or The V Monologues (for those accustomed to seeing its euphemism) is a series of monologues and short plays originally written in 1996 by V (formerly known as Eve Ensler). The monologues explore women's experiences in respect (but not limited to) to bodily autonomy, Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).

In line with the global V-day movement, it comes to Freetown once again (In the past it was performed in Freetown annually from 2019-2021) and they are looking for volunteers and cast members.
