Hey y'all...happy new month!
And happy Labor day!

Sigh, although I am laboring today.
Ideally, my intentions were to just relax at home like the Queen I am and sleep but yoh! I hadn't drafted Top 7 this week due to laboring for you know, to sustain my life 😒.
Moni swit fo spen, but at fo get

And then of course, EDSA beloved decided to take their property aka layt go which prompted me to leave my palace to write to you all...
The issues are many...
Toh, but it is well. Hmm...after all I consider this a labor of love so I do it for you. I do it for Freetown, because how else will you fill your social calendars without me?
And without further ado, I present to you all Top 7 Things to do in Freetown this May:
1. The Song of Njama 🎭

"In the sacred land of Njama, peopole once lived in harmony with their ancestors, sustainbed by a song that held their spirit, heritage and their very existence. It was the heartbeat of their identity; a bridge to the spirit world that kept them whole until deception, betrayal and discord silenced it. M'Bewu, the guardian of the song, failed to shield its melody and a devastating curse fell on Njama..."
Chills! Tell me that blurb didn't give you GOOSEBUMPS? Well, it sure got me. The Song of Njama is written by playwright Dori Turay and directed by dearest Bilal Jalloh. It is a musical and dance performance you may not want to miss, but if you do, you can catch the rerun in June. But for May, you can remember the long awaited song on:

7.) Self-Appreciation & Self-Care 💅🏾

With rising economic hardship and global uncertainty - evin dong to wi so, it's important to nurture your mental, emotional and spiritual health through self-care and most importantly - self-appreciation.
There's a misconception that self-care is financially taxing - not at all. The image above shows 8 different ways to pour into yourself and many of which do not require 1 Leone to do sef. Listen to music, sleep, forgive yourself for not knowing better or getting 'more' work done, reading etc. Whatever soothes and fills your cup is what self-care is about.
And also remember to thank yourself for carrying yourself this far.
If you're looking for inspiration, here are some paid and non-paid activities I do to stay grounded: yoga, nature walks, journaling, massages at Mariyam's Ways, mani & pedis at LAura Studios (y'all know I'm a spa queen, purr 🧖🏾♀️) and gisting 🤭.
Fin, that's it y'all!
MAY the figuative April showers bring about May flowers. Take the time to smell them and embrace yours if given.
All the best, including me. I'm going back to my bed. I'm tired. Your girl was out at a function last night and has another one tonight 🤭.
Ta ta for now...
Mina xx.
